# What are Founding Habitats?

> Founding Habitats are ten buildings we seeded so the colony doesn't open empty. Nine can be claimed for a flat $5; the buyer renames and redesigns them, and from then on they're normal plots. MarsMoveIn HQ stays ours.

## Why they exist

An empty map is hard to picture. Founding Habitats show what a settled colony looks like, spread across Jezero Crater from the outer ring to near the pad.

## Claiming one

Tap a habitat marked "Founding Habitat" and press Claim. It costs $5 wherever it is. You choose a new name, logo, address and habitat type; the founding name is kept only as history.

Nobody owned it before you, so a founding claim counts as a first claim: standard habitats only, and no Oxygen Credits go to anyone.

## After that

It's a normal plot: anyone can take it over for 1.25× its value, and you receive Oxygen Credits if they do.
